Comparative studies of Scandinavian countries show that Denmark, like its neighbours, has a very low rate of poverty, and that those individuals who are poor often emerge quickly from their state of poverty. This paper examines the issue of whether there are special problems related to poverty among non-Western immigrants, both with respect to the frequency of poverty in this group, and of the duration of such poverty.
