In the year 2009 the ROCKWOOL Foundation granted support to the sixth, 2010 round of the questionnaire survey entitled ‘The Kagera Health and Development Survey’ (KHDS 2010), which was carried out in Kagera in northern Tanzania. Four previous data collection exercises had taken place in the period 1991-1994, with a fifth being carried out in 2004. The KHDS 2010 survey was designed to collect data that would aid in understanding the changes in living standards that had taken place for the individuals who were first interviewed 16-19 years previously. KHDS 2010 attempted to re-interview all the respondents in the KHDS 91-94 data collections —even if the participants had moved away from their original village, region or country, or if they now lived in a new household. This Basic Information Document is aimed at providing information to ensure the correct and efficient use of the KHDS 2010 data, which can be downloaded from the World Bank’s Living Standards Measurement Study website.
