Psychological disorders such as schizophrenia, affective disorders and personality disorders are associated with heavy financial and non-financial burdens and costs. This paper presents a study of the relationship between socioeconomic status in early childhood and the likelihood of developing schizophrenia, affective disorders and personality disorders.  The study is based on a sample consisting of Danish men born in 1981, and controls for family-related factors as measured one year before the birth.
