The consequences of immigration have formed a recurring theme in the Danish public debate over the past two decades. One focus area of discussion has been the effect of increased immigration on the social and financial sustainability of the welfare state. Others have included employment and conditions of life among immigrants.
Over the same period, the ROCKWOOL Foundation Research Unit has elucidated the challenges which immigration and inadequate integration pose to the welfare state, as well as the effectiveness of various integration initiatives. These and related topics will continue to form one of the main areas of activity for the ROCKWOOL Foundation Research Unit in the future.
